Acceptance is a two way street if you want kids to learn to love hardcore, then maybe you should start coming to shows and welcoming them into the scene. No offense to you Q but if i were going to my first show and some hardcore guy was swinging a flaming bat around and telling off everyone i would be turned off and never want to go back...
There is no love for music in in Laredo anymore.
There is only love for certain genres. Maybe some of you talk about how everyone use to love and respect any genre that played at a show should do the same again and people will start coming back.

If my first show involved a flaming bat, it would make me wanna go back! Hardcore isn't for the faint of heart. If something like that, or people dancing too hard, or getting your leg broken turns you off to hardcore, well then it probably isn't for you. they shouldn't need to learn to love this shit, it should click with them as soon as they see their first show. or at least they be interested enough to goto another show after that.

My first show I got kicked in the stomach pretty hard and was pushed around by big dudes, I was pretty scared, but the music was awesome, it kept me wanting more.

I remember my first show..I'm probably gonna get a lot of shit for it but I had no idea what the music was like, I didn't know any of the bands, and I didn't know ANYONE at all.
It was in 2004 and it was an At All Cost show (For the record, I had never heard of them before), it was Sacred Heart, Full Contact, some other band, and At All Cost.
Full Contact got me hooked on the pit! That night at Sal's, it was crazy! I got punched in the eye and I got a good gash underneath my eyelid and sure enough, the same dude found me later that night and made sure I was alright.
It was my first show and I didn't know what to expect but after that experience I was hooked for life.
And I know I'm not one to talk, I've recently haven't been making it out to all the shows either. And I'm not gonna make any excuses. I sure as hell know that I still got the love for the music and the scene. But as far as the shows go, I have no clue as to what the fuck is happening there.
I have no excuse to NOT go. I have a car, I DON'T have a job, and its the weekend.
I'm going to make it a point to go.
