yo JJ, I found it hilarious that you mentioned the whole South Side and West Side thing. I never realized that the dudes that have stuck around the longest and have been there right from the start are all South and West side people... north side kids are all filler, haha!

(NORTH SIDE KIDS NEED TO PROVE THIS THEORY WRONG) Just an observation. It's not a total generalization because there are some north side kids who have stuck around and done their part, but too many of the kids who have come in from that area just happen to not care as much.

i love laredo hardcore It changed my life, opened my heart and eyes The scene will always be a huge part of my past and even though I'm going into another stage in my life and the scene will no longer be my #1 , I hate to think of the idea that something that I love so much is dying out. I think its unfair to blame this or that or to point fingers but I do understand and see how those of us who have been around for a long time think that maybe it's someone else's turn to step up. We all get tired, married, start families, careers, etc.. and its only fair to ask younger kids to help out, cuz we still want to go to whatever we can make it out to.
Everyone is broke and busy but seriousy, that's exactly how the scene started and all it took was about 10 people with a huge heart and need I forget to mention, mostly were unemployed broke ass high school kids.....and together they created if not the best then one of the best scene in texas. It might have been small but it had heart. Every touring band said the same thing. ..... so what's so different now. If you fit in the "unemployed broke ass high school kid" category and are complaining/ posting about this or that.... no ride, no money. too far, got grounded.... just do yourself a favor and don't post it up because someone else reading is just laughing because someone was in your shoes once and still managed to start a whole hardcore scene and bring dozens and dozens of other kids together. It's already made....all you have to do is continue it.
And unless you're 40 weeks pregnant and past your due date.....I don't want hear anything about how much your vagina hurts...cuz you don't know shit.

Once again it's all about hype. Yesterday it was about Death Metal(which I love) then it was nu-metal, and now its metalcore and emo. Kids latch on to whatever is cool at the time and todays flavor is Metalcore. I know Boogie feels the same but I believe we should splice Hardcore show with all these Metalcore and Emo bands that way we can infect all those kids with some hardcore and show em the light. Hardcore is like a cockroach...you try to kill it but you can never destroy em. Metalcore on the other hand are like Sea Monkeys...once they're dead they're dead.

here is the problem that I see going on right now... there are a lot of people hard at work playing in bands and booking good shows, and only a small amount of people supporting them. On the other hand, you also have a bunch of fucking metalcore nobodies doing a bunch of HORRIBLE bands and booking HORRIBLE shows, and for some strange reason, they draw pretty big crowds. The reason this happens is because those shows have a mainstream appeal. You watch all of this shit on MTV everyday, and then you have these fruitbags going around playing in these bands, and people can relate to that. They recognize that shit from TV... its basically what Nu-Metal was in the 90s, and early 2000. When I started going to shows, there was no such thing as what metalcore is now... the cool thing everyone was jocking was Nu-metal. Every motherfucker into heavy music in every high school was listening to Korn, and Slipknot, and the shows that mostly appealed to those audiences were Death Metal shows which dominated Laredo. The reason the Hardcore scene was never lame to us was because we were younger and less jaded... we supported every single fucking band regardless of "sub-genre"... Local Hero and Full Contact used to play shows where the majority of the bands were Death Metal bands... and I can tell you this from my perspective... my friends and I didn't give a fuck that it was a metal show... we were stoked to go see the HARDCORE bands... because all we could think about was being at the hardcore show, and living the hardcore scene. We didn't take any of that shit for granted! I will put this out there in the open, I was a HUGE supporter of Laredo Hardcore up until 2005 or so... when shit got too complicated and segregated. I don't think anyone is to blame for the lame shit that happened within Laredo back then... but what we have to look at is the lame attitudes that everyone has fallen into recently. This isn't about supporting a band that you don't like, no one is forcing anyone to listen to mediocre hardcore bands, or to mosh to lame straight edge bands.... but if you don't atleast PROMOTE this shit endlessly, then you have NO ROOM to complain about it sucking. I'll also be 100% honest when I say that Skaretactic isn't exactly to my liking, but when I decided to continue doing this website for so many years was to make it possible to PROMOTE ALL HARDCORE SHOWS that people were putting together, regardless of personal bias. If you're going to complain about shitty metalcore shows, then you might as well do your part to help the REAL HARDCORE scene grow, and promote the fuck out of the good shows. Remind your friends about the shows, and don't let the promoting die out. I don't know what else to say, it is disappointing to see things happen this way, but we can't obligate everyone to be a part of this scene. woooooord.... i completely agree. i would talk about this quite some while back every so often with random people...but i never thought id see the day that it would get this bad. kids came in and straight out of the scene in a heartbeat. fuck it, all that matters is that the ones that really care still support the cause. whether it be making new hardcore bands or even throwing shows, it would be nice to know people want this to get strong again.... i think people faded out when at all cost stopped playing in laredo.... oh and q....use fuckin punctuation dude...i had to read that first post like 3 times over to understand it.
