i think all this stuff has been previously stated before in another post, (last year i think) but from then to now nothing has really changed. I jumped on this train way too late to really know how things were like from the start, but when i went to my first show back in 2005 (i believe), I was amazed at the number of people that were there. It was definitely an experience i can never forget.

Not too long ago a lot of you we're joking on how the Nuevo Laredo hardcore scene is so lame cause how they did old covers and how they danced. Those kids over there are hungry for a scene. Something this city is lacking. They might have the same 5 bands play every show but a lot of kids show up regardless. Everyone here has gotten spoiled. Back in the day every Texas band wanted to play Laredo. Now it's a fucking risk to do so. Sure we have metalcore this and metalcore that. I seriously don't know who these bands are. But if combining shows with these dudes would help then do it. Open the scene to everyone. Sure some of these guys look lame but at least they'll pay to check it out a decent "Laredo" show. This scene has it's ups and downs. Who knows what's up for 2008. I'm getting too old...it's time for some of you fucks to step up.

Who knows what's up for 2008. I'm getting too old...it's time for some of you fucks to step up. I only booked one show this entire year, and I'll be long gone by 2008 too, so I nominate Alex2 to start taking care of some shit. Alex is so active in bands, and has booked shows before... I know he can handle the slack... so just so he knows, I'm rooting for you!

i've always enjoyed laredo because the few amount of people that do come out to shows, are the most kind and appreciative out there. it sucks to see this type of thing happening to what was such a great scene. even if you don't enjoy some bands that are playing, you should at least go to support your friends who are booking these shows because in the end they are the ones who are booking the real big bands and great shows.
i love coming to laredo but i would hate to see it become another houston or san antonio.

Since I got back from Austin, i've been unemployed, and money goes quick, so i've been broke as a joke. Hardly left my house because I have no gas. The little I do have is going to make it to places to get a job.
As soon as i do get a steady job, i intend to start booking shows again, but right now, it's not possible for me to pull it off properly.
But even then, last year alone I brought down 3 INTERNATIONAL BANDS, and for the most part, those shows lacked in attendance. Not to name names, but some people who I've heard bringing up people not supporting recently, were not at those shows.
whatevs.
As soon as I have money, I will be at more shows, and I will start booking shows again. I happen to like my attendance record in the years I've been going to shows. There's been very few shows I've had to miss, and those were usually due to unavoidable incidents.
Seven Days does rule. It's awesome, but people are always going to complain about the distance, and unless you live in Mines Rd, you probably shouldn't be complaining, (i'm not excusing myself due to where i live), but it is at least 30-45 min from here w/ average traffic.
Every scene goes through it's ups and downs, and we just happen to be in a long drought.
All we can do is continue to put on shows, continue to support however we can and just hope for the best. it won't die out entirely as long as there are still people who care at least a bit. there will always come more kids who have a lot of shit in their lives going on, and will find solace in the scene. i mean, most, but not all, of us who have been around through the ups and downs have something in common. we found that solace in the scene when we first started going to shows. it was our vent to the world. so we strived to keep it going.
In the past 2 years er so there's just been a lot of kids who came to the shows cause they thought it was cool, but lacked that connection. that's why that first summer at homerun derby was a huge success. lots of new kids, but most of those kids lacked the connection with the music, so they left it behind them.
as much as it gets overlooked, but when George Hood or others start going on about the southside and lame northside kids, well, it's semi-truth. the place you find most kids with issues in their lives, other than their parents not buying them xbox 360s or new cars, is in the south and west sides .
shit got too consumed with making the headcount and getting bigger bands down here, so we went ahead and allowed all the newer northside kids in, but we grew accustomed to them being around for a bit, so when they all went away, everyone starts talk of non-supporters of the scene, but those ppl who are missing, never really supported in the way others have.
we're better off without those kids, we just need to step up, do things right, and just become more cautious of who's at the shows and acknowledge who of those ppl will still be around no matter where the shows are and what bands are coming down, so long as to support the scene.

Laredo hardcore = I realize nothing is the same or nearly what I use to think about the hardcore scene. we use to look forward to all local shows on weekends about 6 years ago. after a while people would go to show cause there was nothing better to do and they'd hangout. now its like it doesn't even matter if there is show. no one gives a fuck. theres no support. summer 2006 we busted our asses bringing you good bands, we charged what we thought was reasonable and yet you little bitches complained about door covers being too high. if those bands hadn't come here we would have been force to see them in san antonio, corpus, or else where and paid $12 each show plus gas. i think in the end it would have been cheaper for us to have let those shows go and gone to see them out of town cause we lost money in the long run... as I assume its happening now. I really dont know what this city is excepting or what they want. they take our hard effort for granted. maybe there is no hardcore scene anymore, maybe everyone grew up and there hearts are dead. there's no fire, no passion or no love for the music. blach! I'm just fucking ranting. i could really give a fuck anymore. its
It's more than music It's our life
WORD but, there are still some kids that arent just going cause its a "trend" there is still some fools out there that care. and some left out of town to live their respective lives....they come and visit time and time. i love this town. and love this scene.....*loved*

Man this sucks, to hear that all these shows I wanted to go to haven't had good turned outs. I can't wait to go back home to go to the Skare tactic show! I miss going to shows bad, and would be glad just to go to any show, what's up with everyone?
