Wow Laredo honestly you guys have been nothing put disappointments these past few shows, What hurts the most the people who hyped the shit out of this show werent even there to fucking support with the exception of the few in Austin but everyone else that were here in town you all dont have a fucking excuse the Its to far bullshit wont cut it anymore and no offense but if your friend is leaving the the air force and going to Iraq I understand but if he is going to basic training he will be back in a month but whatever, The good thing about this is you guys just saved me $600 I was planning on confirming the Kids Like Us show as some of you may have seen on their tour poster but I turned them down and gave the show to Mcallen because at the way shows have been you guys dont deserve to have badass bands coming down, In California kids drive 2 hours and consider that a local show so if you guys really want to see kids like us you will make the 2 hour drive to either SA CC or Mcallen I m out DEUCE!

Regardless if there wasn't a huge crowd, the show was still fun.It was good seeing some great people as always. TPs is always delicious. No doubt we will be back soon.  |

Laredo hardcore =  I realize nothing is the same or nearly what I use to think about the hardcore scene. we use to look forward to all local shows on weekends about 6 years ago. after a while people would go to show cause there was nothing better to do and they'd hangout. now its like it doesn't even matter if there is show. no one gives a fuck. theres no support. summer 2006 we busted our asses bringing you good bands, we charged what we thought was reasonable and yet you little bitches complained about door covers being too high. if those bands hadn't come here we would have been force to see them in san antonio, corpus, or else where and paid $12 each show plus gas. i think in the end it would have been cheaper for us to have let those shows go and gone to see them out of town cause we lost money in the long run... as I assume its happening now. I really dont know what this city is excepting or what they want. they take our hard effort for granted. maybe there is no hardcore scene anymore, maybe everyone grew up and there hearts are dead. there's no fire, no passion or no love for the music. blach! I'm just fucking ranting. i could really give a fuck anymore. its

yea I think that's what happened a lot of people just let the fire die, whatever I don`t plan on throwing any shows I am just going to go to whatever shows are left and the klu shows out of town shows I honestly just don`t give a fuck anymore I am just going to play in the red alert maybe you guys can atleast support that.

Now that we have a venue that's cool about putting on shows and doesn't charge rent. Come on! This is why I only book friends that want to play Laredo. And even like that it's a hit or miss show. How many of you fucks didn't go see the Grave Robbers. This is why I send all the bands to the Valley cause it's not worth playing here anymore. Start saving for gas cause that's the only way you'll get to see shows from now on. The scene has more excuses than support. Metal is gone. Hardcore is next.

oh yeah and even though this hardcore scene is dead im still going to try to book shows, promote, and help with cash (if i have any) cause in a way its still fun for me and knowing that im still trying makes me feel good. like yeah i lose cash but like thay say "money comes and goes" so why not make the best out of it? sry thats just me saying.

and even if i dont get charged i put in my five bucks
only a few people in this town truly support hardcore...... and truly love it...........as for the rest they just want to be down and act hard and when they find out its not gonna slide they leave...........
i also feel like
if i dont like a band..................i shouldnt feel forced to go the show and "support"
specially when some shitty straight edge band comes by preaching about how much i should die cus i drink and smoke (not talking about no return)..or whateva .........fuck that......but its just me..........my two cents......

meh, theres too much selfish judgement and idealism in the scene now..havent gone to a show in ages partly because of work but also because they were really starting to decline mainly with support. people also talk too much and don't back it up.. i want to start going back to shows..so hopefully things start shaping up..

here is the problem that I see going on right now...
there are a lot of people hard at work playing in bands and booking good shows, and only a small amount of people supporting them. On the other hand, you also have a bunch of fucking metalcore nobodies doing a bunch of HORRIBLE bands and booking HORRIBLE shows, and for some strange reason, they draw pretty big crowds. The reason this happens is because those shows have a mainstream appeal. You watch all of this shit on MTV everyday, and then you have these fruitbags going around playing in these bands, and people can relate to that. They recognize that shit from TV... its basically what Nu-Metal was in the 90s, and early 2000.
When I started going to shows, there was no such thing as what metalcore is now... the cool thing everyone was jocking was Nu-metal. Every motherfucker into heavy music in every high school was listening to Korn, and Slipknot, and the shows that mostly appealed to those audiences were Death Metal shows which dominated Laredo.
The reason the Hardcore scene was never lame to us was because we were younger and less jaded... we supported every single fucking band regardless of "sub-genre"... Local Hero and Full Contact used to play shows where the majority of the bands were Death Metal bands... and I can tell you this from my perspective... my friends and I didn't give a fuck that it was a metal show... we were stoked to go see the HARDCORE bands... because all we could think about was being at the hardcore show, and living the hardcore scene. We didn't take any of that shit for granted!
I will put this out there in the open, I was a HUGE supporter of Laredo Hardcore up until 2005 or so... when shit got too complicated and segregated. I don't think anyone is to blame for the lame shit that happened within Laredo back then... but what we have to look at is the lame attitudes that everyone has fallen into recently.
This isn't about supporting a band that you don't like, no one is forcing anyone to listen to mediocre hardcore bands, or to mosh to lame straight edge bands.... but if you don't atleast PROMOTE this shit endlessly, then you have NO ROOM to complain about it sucking.
I'll also be 100% honest when I say that Skaretactic isn't exactly to my liking, but when I decided to continue doing this website for so many years was to make it possible to PROMOTE ALL HARDCORE SHOWS that people were putting together, regardless of personal bias.
If you're going to complain about shitty metalcore shows, then you might as well do your part to help the REAL HARDCORE scene grow, and promote the fuck out of the good shows. Remind your friends about the shows, and don't let the promoting die out.
I don't know what else to say, it is disappointing to see things happen this way, but we can't obligate everyone to be a part of this scene.
