Interview/Review with Grave Robbers (U.S. Thrash/Hardcore)
Grave Robbers texas best known Underground band, why because of their sick live shows & references to lucio Fulci,Gore films & seriall killers, this guys always amaze me,they can kick anyones butt with their original heavy Thrash & Hardcore music & their sick lyrics, from the first listen you are destined to become a fan, well guys tell us a little bit about your personal lifes & a brief history of the group?
We started up in 2003, we were just a buncha guys obssessed with horror movies, i myself was still in high school at the time and we worked at a sandwich shop. Me and Redman would steal food from our work and then buy beer and just watch horror movies all night about 7 days a week. We all were just partyin one night and a group of as got together and started talking about starting a band, so me and a few other guys started writing, we come up with "On this day" before we had a singer, then Redman came to one of our practices and as soon as he wrote the lyrics to that song and he started screamin, we were set in stone, ready to take it seriously. In 2005 we released "Hell to Pay", and everything has been great since, we have been touring and just partying and havin an awesome time.
Are you guys on tour this days, because I saw you are mad busy with 20 or more shows wow,Im glad things are going great for this amazing group?
We are doing the best we can with touring right now, we do have a tour comin up goin west coast, but after that we are focusing on paying all bills off and preparing to go completely full time next year. We should have a new album out by next year as well.
Are there plans for a couple of mini tours across the U.S. or not at this moment,Im sure fans there will love your music & message, there are a lot of lovers of freaky music like yours?
At this point we just have that west coast tour but something will definatly get booked soon after, i actually think we are guna be playing in Mexico in February will Full Contact (amazing thrash band from Laredo, TX, myspace.com/fullcontact) We cant stand bein at home and we love just partyin and playing all over the country, so we will be touring as much as we can until we go full-time. As far as our fans, we want everyone to like us, hardcore kids, metalheads, thrash kids, hard rock, horror junkies and punk rockers. We are writing heavy music for the masses.
When are we going to see this group travel to other countrys like Canada, the U.K.,Brazil,Spain & mexico among others to delight them with their one of a kind Gore Core?
Well like i said we have plans for Mexico in February, but as far as other countries, We promise you will see us sometime soon, we have every intention of playing all of the world.
Tell us some of your influences in & out of music, like horror flicks, seriall killers, what else?
Slayer, Pantera, FEAR, Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, The Misfits (via 1977-1983), George Romero, Crowbar, Blood for Blood and Willie Nelsons travelin songs.
You guys have 2 releases at the moment right, the "Hell To Pay" cd that we have heard a lot & kicks major ass & the new "All You Can Eat!" e.p.,which one is your favorite & why?
I cant really say i favor one more than the other, we like playing the newer stuff just because it is new and fun to play, but we love our old stuff, its the first songs we ever wrote together as a band, id say we like both of them equally.
I saw you guys started creating new music for a new release, tell us about the new material, what can our readers expect from it?
New stuff is THRASH and a lot heavier, we think people are guna go nuts for our new shit. It is a lot of fun to play and we hope people have a lot of fun when they hear it.
Are we going to see the new release in early 2008 or in the middle of that year, whats the title of the albums, how many songs will be included?
We have plans for a full length next year called "Paralyzed by Violence", but we also have two more 7 inches coming out before then, that will be in a series with the "All You Can Eat" 7 inch.
Are you guys searching these days for a new record labels or are you going to continue with the same one for now & on your own, also are there some side projects in the making for your members or not?
We are always searching for something or someone that will help better our band and help us get spread throughout the world so everyone can hear our music, we havent gotten picked up by anyone yet but hopefully something will happen soon. As far as side projects go we are really just trying to focus 100% on Grave Robbers, so no side projects really.
2007 has been a tremendous year for the Texas Horror Core godfathers Grave Robbers,a new album, constant show booking, more fans world wide, lots of of exposure in magazines & radio stations & more, tell us whats left to prove for the group in 2008 & in the future?
2007 wont have shit on the stuff weve got comin up, We havent even started yet, were just havin fun. Soon we will be tearin up all over the world so expect to see us soon.
Also keep an eye out for our new 7 inch "All You Can Eat" and keep an eye out for us in your city next year!
