That show sucked. I understand the venue wasn't chosen by Helakon people but fuck.....at least inspect your shit before you throw a show. Even if you did, you should have known that there was a CRACKHOUSE on the 2nd floor of that building. That right there should have stopped you from throwing the show; regardless of having already booked that so-called "venue".
Also, did any of the security guards who were armed with guns have some sort of legal document stating they could have weapons? If we had a situation there (thankfully we didn't) and intervention was needed by the authorities, you guys would have gotten shit as well. I appreciate the thought; being armed & ready to protect. I was witness to that first hand (Andy & Alfred know what I'm talking about), but all in all you guys need to work on your show throwing.
One major thing you need to stop doing is saying that you're going to "take over the scene". If you're talking about the Hardcore scene, that's a pretty stupid thing to try and do. The Laredo HxC scene has been around for awhile - LONG before Helakon Media was even a thought. Sure, you might have brought in alot more people than a Laredo HxC show has brought in....what does that matter?? Have you ever been to a REAL HARDCORE show here in Laredo?? Do you know what Hardcore MEANS?? I don't think the people that are part of the Hardcore scene consider me part of it, but I have shitloads of respect for the music and it's message, however diluted it's gotten over the years due to overexposure and mass-marketing. The true fans and the heart are still there.
If you guys want to try and monopolize on Laredo's music scene, by all means,go right ahead. But you won't ever have the same heart or energy that HxC has. That's just the way it is. Also, if you [Helakon Media] want to stop asking us for shows, that's fine with me. Laredo Hardcore, whether you like me or TMLS is irrelevant. I'm just stating a fact.
