The other day I asked this dark(what they call goth kids in Mx.) if he liked hardcore, and he said no cause its poppy and mainstream. Me and my friend got so pissed off and gave him a huge lecture about a whole bunch of bands that have 10years+ and are still NOT mainstream. I seriously wanted to fucking punch this kid in the face, he also "just listens to \m/METAL\m/ (gay shit like cradle of filth) and hates punk cause its so mainstream." Me and my friend were pissed when we went to go see Sepultura and were expecting a whole punch of circle pits and trash music. Sepultura didn't show up cause of immigration probs or something, but the 3 bands that did play were gay metalcore bands and the kids just push each other around like idiots. We wanted to start a circle pit but failed. hahaha, I concur

.....i dont wanna be dissing anyone with what i have to say but if i do....
See you all want people to understand hardcore and love the unity and stuff but since most of the TRUE hardcore guys are older than most of us, we may never understand it...from the few years ive been at shows listening to the music ive heard hardcore, metalcore, Grindcore etc and you know theres something that i love from all the different types of music....but you guys should be proud that what you all lived still lives in its own way through these other types of music sure it may not be hardcore but its still has its presence in the music...
maybe manopla can work with kangarooster to bring down more hardcore bands i know that george loves music and he would be willing to bring down hardcore bands but all it takes is cooperation....
if you guys want us to know and realize what REAL hardcore is then maybe instead of assuming that every new kid is dumb and scene ,hardcore will still be as alive as it was.....

We can never expect every year to be the same. The scene changes all the time. Take it from someone who's seen it from nothing to something big, to something eh, to something huge again, to something barely holding on. It's a roller coaster ride I've been on for a long time. Kids, bands, trends come and go but I salute the few who have stuck around long enough to see it change. Call it metalcore, emocore, fashioncore, or whatevercore. All this is just bookmark in our scene. Something to talk about when we're hanging out. Just like when all us old folks talk about how the scene was 10, 15 years ago. It's a different generation every year. All we can do is hope that the following years go well for all of us. The passion within me will always be there. I still get that knot in my stomach when I go to a show whether to play or just hang out. Like I always say. Once it's not fun anymore I'll stop going, playing, or putting on shows.
Sucks about what happened this past Saturday. I wanted to host a St Patty's (March 17th) show there for our CD release. Now I have no idea where to have it. Any news about the Dug Out or any other venue that wants to hold it please let me know. I really want to do this. I have the bands all I need is the place. Please help us out.

So last night on the drive back from San Antonio I came to realize I know longer enjoy going to shows In laredo. I came to realize that the shows I use to enjoy going to and hanging out at no longer happen, and that Hardcore show some how got confused with metalcore shows. Its sucks on how Hardcore lost its meaning and what if used to stand for. When i first started going to show those shows were so much fun, Ill admit i was a younger stupid kid who at first had not idea what hardcore was but little by little i started hanging out alot more going to more shows and learned that its not about who the toughest person is who dances the hardest, its about enjoying the music having fun with friends. The shows arent the only thing that I think has changed its the types of bands that been coming down every fucking weekend, Bands that dont have any real message to their music. The music isnt even the same kids confusing metal core with hardcore just because its got a break down in between the song doesnt make it hardcore. I have heard kids dancing at those kangarooster shows saying they hate hardcore yet when a breakdown come along they there fucking floorpunching and hardcore dancing. And when finally a good band comes down no ones dances or even supports why cause they dont have a CHUGA CHUGA part in their music its just fucking depressing on how Laredo went from such a loved city where bands would just die to come down to a city where we are lucky if bands make the trip down. I think Ive ranted long enough i just have a couple of thigs left to say FUCK METAL CORE FUCK CHUGA CHUGA WEENIE WEENIE FUCK EMO KIDS THINKING THEY ARE TOUGH FUCK GUYS IN GIRL PANTS I can agree with you on a lot of these points. I, personally, started out listening to metal in 6th grade (senior in HS now) and started listening to metalcore and getting exposed to Hardcore my sophomore year. I say Hardcore because I know the difference between Hardcore music and the palatable, bland, generic genre of the 'hardcore' music that has leaked its way into the mainstream of today. I can agree with Q on the fact that, yes, kids are confusing metalcore with hardcore just because some metalcore band has a breakdown in their song. That, to me, doesn’t validate you as being Hardcore at all. All that means is that you can understand the concept of syncopation. A couple of monkeys with a drum set and a guitar can write a breakdown, as most bands of today [not necessarily local] have shown; but few can accompany that with any sort of real message anymore, other than gutting some bitch and fucking her entrails. [That's something else that urks me about today's 'extreme' music, but I digress] I don’t know too much about Hardcore itself, or notable bands, other than it stands for WAY more than what most ‘scene’ kids think it is. I have respect for Hardcore music because of the way it moves people and brings them together and the messages that the bands have. Whether it is a philosophical, social, religious view or about unity and friendship; I believe that Hardcore is based on it's message, rather than the music. The only prime example of this is when I saw Die Young play here in Laredo at the Base. The music was GREAT, or course, and the message behind Daniel Truth's lyrics have a strong foundation and fierce convictions. About today's show throwers, I have never heard anyone from the Kangarooster camp say that they throw ‘Hardcore shows’, nor have I ever THOUGHT of them as throwing Hardcore shows. That might be a common misconception that’s made frequently today because of the rise in what’s perceived as ‘Hardcore’ music. If anything, they throw shows that are more metal & (modern) grindcore-oriented. All in all, I think that the younger kids need to be taught the differences between the mainstream “hardcore” music of today and the true Hardcore bands that have carried their messages throughout the years. -If you disagree with my opinions, that's fine. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. But don't just blantantly bitch me out. Be adult about it.

oh, and if you're charging that little then you either:
A. have shitty equipment
or
B. you're watering down the market
but then again, considering how people are paying $160 for shitty outdoor venues, the I would understand the low cost
