So last night on the drive back from San Antonio I came to realize I know longer enjoy going to shows In laredo. I came to realize that the shows I use to enjoy going to and hanging out at no longer happen, and that Hardcore show some how got confused with metalcore shows. Its sucks on how Hardcore lost its meaning and what if used to stand for. When i first started going to show those shows were so much fun, Ill admit i was a younger stupid kid who at first had not idea what hardcore was but little by little i started hanging out alot more going to more shows and learned that its not about who the toughest person is who dances the hardest, its about enjoying the music having fun with friends. The shows arent the only thing that I think has changed its the types of bands that been coming down every fucking weekend, Bands that dont have any real message to their music. The music isnt even the same kids confusing metal core with hardcore just because its got a break down in between the song doesnt make it hardcore. I have heard kids dancing at those kangarooster shows saying they hate hardcore yet when a breakdown come along they there fucking floorpunching and hardcore dancing. And when finally a good band comes down no ones dances or even supports why cause they dont have a CHUGA CHUGA part in their music its just fucking depressing on how Laredo went from such a loved city where bands would just die to come down to a city where we are lucky if bands make the trip down. I think Ive ranted long enough i just have a couple of thigs left to say FUCK METAL CORE FUCK CHUGA CHUGA WEENIE WEENIE FUCK EMO KIDS THINKING THEY ARE TOUGH FUCK GUYS IN GIRL PANTS

seriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiously!
Laredo is nothing special anymore, maybe 2-3 years ago it was... most of us weren't clueless to hardcore, we were just young and stubborn about it, and thats what made it interesting and for the most part enjoyable. When bands complimented our scene, it was because we were siked on hardcore, and on shows.
shit is lame here now... thats why I just chill on my own and wait for a good band that I like to come through.

Its very true I wish sometimes I could show all the new kids how it was 2-3 years ago those were fun times those are times that will always be burned into my mind and if laredo stays the way its going its going to be a shame

Yeah, it sucks, but it's not those scenester's faults. They're clueless cause real hardcore shows got fewer and fewer and there was nothing to base their opinion on. They knew hardcore bands had breakdowns, and so they figured that's a big part of hardcore since that's when most people would participate during the show. We can't sit around and be bummed on hardcore shows when we don't put more effort into getting shows going. I mean, fuck right now, it's just Manopla doing the occasional show when a band they like wants to come through and me when I can find the time to get one done.
We're basically gonna have to start fresh with this shit. I know a lot of kids who still like hardcore for what it is, and want to see more shows go down. Young, stubborn kids who are looking for a good time, just like we were. They will still be at shows. They will still be helping with promotion, etc etc. We can't just sit around and complain how it's not the same as it was a few years back, cause that won't accomplish shit. We need to actually put forth some effort into getting it back to it's former glory. I mean, many of us have helped out with shows for awhile, and yeah, it's a tiring job, but someone has to do it. If everyone got tired with doing shows, fuck, it'd all just die.
Even with the few shows that have gone down recently, we still manage more kids than much bigger cities. Kids here still have their hearts in hardcore. They just lack the proper outlets for their hc fix, so some of them have resorted to going to scenester shows where the occasional hc band might play.
It seems I'm not moving to Austin after all for various reasons, but one thing's for sure, I am gonna be working on getting shit rolling again.
ENRAGED IN THE 07!

I agree with all of you, Q inparticular. I remember a few years ago I was looking forward to the weekend or the next show just to be with friends and hang out. It's changed alot, and so have the people. Last night for instance, wasn't too bad until some stupid ass fight broke out, and from what I was told we lost another place to have shows, in fact the only place we had that I am aware of. This sucks, and yes things arn't the same.

I won't be moving out either, not anytime soon atleast... I'm just waiting on some good shows to come through. I wouldn't be caught dead at an all metalcore show... not my scene!

I totally agree with all of what you guys are saying. I'm not a scenester. If some of you know me, you'll see that I'm never at shows anymore for the same reason.
There are no more bands who show any heart or any meaning at all in their music, emo kids in girl pants trying to act tough and own the place.
I'm not trying to rant. I'm not a "veteran", I'm still as new to this culture ever since I was introduced to it back when I was in the 7th grade (I'm in 10th now).
Back then, I didn't know what the hell it was. However, I knew what I saw. Nothing but raw energy, emotion, and unity. It something I definitely hadn't seen in my life.
Every weekend, I'd try my hardest to go to shows after that, but my mom was gay. Then, 8th grade came along and I was at each and every damn one of them. Not like I had any significance in the scene itself then or now.
But, it really bothers me to see it how it is right now. I think we'd all want it back to the glory days. Kids nowadays just seem to catch on and move to different trends and since Hardcore is mainstream now, kids have a totally different view on hardcore now. Baseball caps? Baggy pants? Girl Pants? Matted down hair? Eye shadow?
It's absurd. We need a revival and I would be totally willing to help out.
BTW: Hey JJ, what's the deal with that street team you had planned? I'm still down for that stuff.
EDIT:
Also, some of the best lyrics I've heard from any of the local bands here.
"It's easy to manipulate the scene these days, cuz kids are losing grip of the music today!"
